Renovation projects always bring their own unique challenges and rewards, and the Emerald Drive home in Whistler was no exception. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew this wasn’t just any house. With its stunning log post and beam construction and incredible valley views, this home had everything that makes Whistler living so special.

The project, designed by DVAD Architecture, was broken into two phases. The first phase focused on transforming the primary bedroom, ensuite, and closet, along with reconfiguring the lower floor to add two bedrooms with a shared ensuite. The upper floor ensuite was also reimagined, blending functionality with a sense of luxury. Each space was carefully reworked to maximize comfort without losing the warmth and character of the original home.

Phase two brought us to the heart of the house: the kitchen. There’s something deeply satisfying about modernizing a space that serves as the center of daily life. With this renovation, the goal was to bring in a fresh, updated feel while honoring the home’s rustic charm. The result is a kitchen that blends seamlessly with the rest of the house, offering the perfect mix of style and practicality.

What made this project truly special was how it allowed us to enhance the home’s original character while making it more livable for today. There’s a fine balance between preserving what makes a space unique and pushing it forward with thoughtful updates, and that’s what we set out to achieve.

Looking back, the Emerald Drive renovation was a perfect example of how collaboration and attention to detail can bring out the best in a home. It’s always a privilege to breathe new life into a space while keeping its Whistler spirit alive.
